DeAngelo Williams Foundation Donates 53 Mammograms for Uninsured/Underinsured Women in Butler County

Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams, through his foundation, recently donated the cost of 53 mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women in Butler County.

A check was presented by Williams to Butler Health System and Dr. Ronald Cypher of Advanced OB/GYN Associates.

Williams is a strong supporter of breast cancer awareness, having lost four aunts and his mother to breast cancer. Part of the mission of his Foundation is keeping awareness at the forefront, not only during October, breast cancer awareness month, but throughout the year as well.

“I know that the message is getting across and that we are saving lives,” said Williams during the check presentation. He noted that he sees support of breast cancer awareness not only in Pittsburgh, but in cities across the country.

“We are honored to receive this generous donation, says Cindy Schooley, Director of Butler’ Women’s Imaging Center. “Breast Cancer touches so many lives. Early detection and treatment can have positive outcomes. Because of this generous donation, 53 more women might have a lifesaving diagnosis.”

Donations have also been made in honor of Mr. Williams’ mother in Charlotte, North Carolina, Memphis Tennessee, and Arkansas.
