Clarion Hospital is pleased to welcome Rodger Mattson, D.O., to its medical staff. A board-certified family physician and medical professor, Dr. Mattson has taken the position as Clarion Hospital’s residency director. He supervises the care provided by the medical residents who see patients at Family Healthcare of Clarion, which is located in the Clarion Health Complex on the hospital campus.
Clarion Hospital initiated a family practice residency program in 1989. Students from colleges of osteopathic medicine are accepted into the program and spend two years precepting under an attending physician.
Dr. Mattson attended medical school at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did both his internship and residency at Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He most recently practiced in Lawton, Oklahoma and served as an assistant professor of family medicine at Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Mattson is also an ordained minister and has led Presbyterian churches in Oklahoma, Illinois, California and Oregon.
He and his wife, Beth, have relocated to Clarion. They enjoy gardening, growing roses, and rebuilding classic motorcycles.
