Clarion Hospital offers its Nurse Externs:
- Up to $5,000 tuition reimbursement/year (When payment is provided for by scholarship or other financial grant, it will not be eligible for tuition reimbursement.)
- Educational programs
- Student networking and support
- Part-time employees eligible for part-time benefits
- Guaranteed full-time employment and benefits as a Registered Nurse upon completion of school and state board licensure
The Nurse Extern's role:
Externs work initially with nursing assistants
- 1st year students – for first semester
- 2nd year students for 2-3 weeks
Externs then:
- Rotate through every area of the hospital
- Work with RN’s
- Role is primarily observation
- Observe critical thinking of RN’s
What does Clarion Hospital receive?
- The Nurse Extern program assists in recruitment of new nurses
- Allows the hospital to provide an in depth training program prior to the applicant becoming an RN
- Retention - Each extern will work for Clarion Hospital for 2 years for each extern year
