The nurse extern is initially paid to work as a nursing assistant.
During the final three semesters of nursing school, nursing externs work rotations through the nursing units with registered nurse preceptors. Rotations include medical/surgical, intensive care, obstetrics, transitional care, emergency department, oncology, operating room, recovery room, special procedures, and surgicare.
Nurse externs are eligible for part time hospital benefits.
On-the-job nursing training is obtained through hands-on competency skills labs. This will assist in the preparation of the graduate nurse to sit for state boards.
Nurse externs will receive up to $5,000 tuition reimbursement per year for the final two years of registered nursing education.
After Graduation...
Nurse externs are guaranteed full time-employment and benefits as a Registered Nurse upon completion of school and state board licensure.
Benefits to Clarion Hospital
The nurse extern program assists Clarion Hospital with the recruitment of new employees.
The program allows the hospital to provide a structured, in depth training program, prior to the applicant becoming an RN.
The employee will agree to work for Clarion Hospital as a registered nurse for two (2) years for each year of reimbursement paid.
