The duties of a nurse extern include...
- Working a minimum of 32 hours per month
- Attending paid education days
- Attending monthly Nursing Grand Rounds lectures
- Maintaining satisfactory academic school standing.
Upon successful graduation and state board licensure, nurses will work in the capacity of an RN until commitment is completed.
Funding:
- Externs are required to obtain a loan at a lending institution
- After graduation, the extern will provide all loan information to the Human Resources Department
- Externs are reimbursed for books and tuition only (When payment is provided for by scholarship or other financial grant, it will not be eligible for tuition reimbursement)
- Monthly loan payments will be made on the nurses behalf as long as the nurse’s contract is in good standing
Contract
- All nurse externs sign a contract agreeing to the terms
- Agree to obtain funding
- Agree to work in the capacity of an RN until commitment is completed
- Agree to maintain satisfactory academic standing
