Clarion Hospital and Its Gynecologists Offer New Permanent Birth Control that Requires No Surgery
Clarion Hospital, along with the gynecologists at Women’s Healthcare of Clarion, is offering a new procedure, called Essure, that offers women a non-surgical alternative to having their tubes tied.
This form of permanent birth control works by obstructing the fallopian tubes with micro-inserts, made of the same material that has been used for 40 years in artificial heart valves. In studies, Essure has been proven to be 99.8 percent effective at the three-year follow-up.
The benefits to women are great. The procedure is done in about 35 minutes as an outpatient. There are no incisions, and most women are able to return to work the next day.
The Essure procedure is currently being performed by Doctors Myers, Matson, and Perard at Clarion Hospital. For an initial consultation, call Women’s Healthcare of Clarion for an appointment at (814) 226-8800.
