August 2007 CLARION HOSPITAL / HIGHMARK TO OFFER WELLNESS CLASSES
Clarion Hospital has partnered with Highmark Preventive Services to offer several new classes to encourage the health and wellness of area residents. Classes will be instructed by clinical personnel from Clarion Hospital, and the cost is covered by Highmark for those who have Highmark insurance. Classes will be held in the second-floor conference room of the new Clarion Health Complex.
Personal Nutrition Coaching – Participants will meet one-on-one with a Clarion Hospital dietitian. A plan will be developed to meet each individual’s specific nutritional needs, from weight management to diabetes. The initial session lasts about an hour, and each participant can come back six more times during the year for encouragement and goal tracking.
Clear the Air – For those who are considering quitting smoking, this one-time class will serve as inspiration and guidance. Participants will receive the tools necessary to make a firm decision to quit and find resources to help them on that journey.
Eat Well for Life I and II – These four-day programs promote long-term weight management. Participants will enjoy cooking demonstrations, a group trip to the grocery store, and other hands-on experiences. The courses are instructed by a registered dietitian.
Two more classes are still under development. Discover Relaxation Within addresses stress management and relaxation techniques. HOPE (Highmark Osteoporosis Prevention and Education program) focuses on healthy choices to prevent or manage osteoporosis.
Pre-registration is required for all classes. For more information or to register, call Sandee Best at the Clarion Hospital Marketing Department at 814-226-FITT (3488).
