The Clarion Hospital Ambassadors began 1997 and now has more than 50 members. The group, which welcomes any member of the community to join, has three goals:
1. To raise awareness of Clarion Hospital
- The Ambassadors bring awareness of the hospital by being visible in the community.
2. To raise funds to purchase equipment for the hospital
- With many annual fundraisers and new ideas at each meeting, the Ambassadors are able to raise enough funds to purchase major equipment for the hospital.
3. To have fun
- The Ambassadors have social activities on a regular basis. No matter what your interests are, the Ambassadors have something for you.
The Ambassadors’ largest, ongoing fundraiser is the Sharing Tree, a thrift shop located on Route 322 on the Clarion River Hill. Staffed completely by volunteers, the shop is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The building has been provided rent-free by Temple-Inland. Donations of household and seasonal items, clothing, toys, books and small appliances are welcomed. All proceeds from the Sharing Tree go directly towards equipment purchases for the hospital.
Another means of raising funds is the sale of bricks in the Wall of Tribute. (See adjacent article for more information). The Clarion Hospital Ambassadors is currently taking orders for the next engraving. More information is available by clicking here.
Since its formation, the Ambassadors have donated more than $75,000 worth of equipment. Some of the contributions include a neonatal monitor for the nursery, pediatric resuscitation units for the ambulances, and mammography view boxes. The group funded a remodeling project in the hospital’s chapel and gave $125,000 to the cancer center.
The group is involved in many social activities including dances, art auctions and decorating the hospital for Christmas and other functions.
